Special Edition 2013

Hello again!

ON THE HOME FRONT:

Immediate family traveled from all over the country to attend this year’s Blair Clan Reunion. We had perfect attendance, making this year’s gathering the best ever!  And to think this incredible group only came into being because Margery Lord and James Blair fell in love in 1942.

ON THE BOOK FRONT:

It’s here!

It has taken hard work by nine dedicated authors and some very talented friends to bring this Bestseller collection of 10 full-length novels in multiple genres to you at a rock-bottom price. I hope you enjoy The Perfect 10 boxed set. (My share of any proceeds will be donated to the Scot’s and my favorite organizations, the Hampton Food Bank and God’s Baby Closet.)

Meanwhile work continues on The Warrior, the next book in my Castle Blackstone series.

ON THE WEB SITE:

Congratulations to Mina in Pennsylvania! She won last month’s contest. A new contest is currently running on the Fan Club.

To enter just tell the Fan Club folks about your - or a loved one’s, friend’s - worst sun burn. The winner of the plush bear and $10.00 Amazon gift card will be chosen at random from those posting on the Fan Club site.

That’s it for now. I hope you’re having a great summer!

Fondly,

Sandy and her Highlanders

Summer 2013
Hello again!

ON THE HOME FRONT:

The garden is in! This year I had the foresight to ask Scott what he’d like and planted accordingly.

With the ice out at Moose Pond, Scott and Steve were itching to go fishing, but before they could, they had to wrestle the dock back into place in order to get the boat out of storage.

Scott didn’t discover his waders were riddled with wee holes until he got waist deep in the frigid water, which immediately brought to mind that joke about pale blue Scottish people...☺

THE BAGPIPER…sent by a friend.

As a bagpiper, I play many different gigs. Recently, I was asked by a funeral director to play at a grave-side service for a homeless man. He had no family or friends, so the service was to be at a pauper’s cemetery in the back country. As I was not familiar with the backwoods, I got lost and, being a man, I didn’t bother to stop for directions.

I finally arrived an hour late and saw the funeral guy had apparently left, as the hearse was nowhere in sight. There were only the diggers and crew left and they were already eating lunch. I went to the side of the grave and looked down and the vault lid was already in place. I didn’t know what else to do, so I started to play.

The workers put down their lunches and began to gather around. I played out my heart and soul for this man with no family and friends. I was inspired and played like I’d never played before for this homeless man.

As I played Amazing Grace, the workers began to weep. They wept, I wept, we all wept together. When I finished I packed up my bagpipes and started for my car. Though my head hung low, my heart was full.

As I opened to door to my car, I heard one of the workers say, “I’ve never seen anything like that before, and I’ve been putting in septic tanks for more than twenty years.”

    Apparently, I’m still lost…It’s a man thing.

February 2013
Hi!

ON THE HOME FRONT:

To alleviate our cabin fever, we recently accepted an invitation to a rum tasting at a local distillery called the Sea Hagg.

When we arrived, we enjoyed appetizers and a tasting as we learned about the history of rum making in New England during colonial times and forward. (Woot, history!) We were then brought back to the huge distillery room where we found his huge French copper still, stainless steel vats, oak barrels and bottling station.

The distiller walked us through the process of rum making, step by step.  I was surprised to learn he purchases blueberries and peaches from local farms to make his smooth fruit flavored rums.   All in all, it was a great experience.

ON THE BOOK FRONT:

The Laird, book #1 in the Castle Blackstone series, is finally available as an e-book and again in print.

March/April 2013
Hello again!

ON THE HOME FRONT:

Spring has officially sprung.

The sugar maples have been tapped and collection buckets hung. Chipmunks are again scampering over stone walls and flocks of Canadian geese are winging their way north, yet we received eleven inches of snow yesterday and we’re expecting more tomorrow.  We’ve already had 63.5 inches. A sufficient amount, surely.

I want to look at this:
Instead, I’m looking at this.
This is so not right. I’m just saying…

ON THE BOOK FRONT:

My award-winning novella, The Accidental Duchess, is here!! I hope you enjoy it.
Sandy Blair, The Accidental Duchess, Historical Romance, Romance, Scotland, Scottish Romance, Highlands, Historical Romance
And thank you for making The Laird the #1 Bestselling Time Travel four weeks in a row!!

The Rogue has also made Amazon’s Best Paranormal and Best Historical lists.

Meanwhile, I’m hard at work writing The Warrior, my brand new time travel in the Castle Blackstone series.
Recluse ex-Special Forces Sergeant Major Travis MacKay, fearing the violence unleashed inside him when he brutally kills four men viciously attacking a female aid worker, vows never to raise his hand in anger again.

Arriving at Blackstone, he remains reclusive, becoming enamored with the portrait of a young woman who, in his opinion, understood only too well what remaining true to oneself costs. Legend says she fell on her sword. History says she was murdered.

When he’s thrown back in time to 1540, arriving in the midst of a battle, he comes face to face with the legendary Lady “Skye” MacDougall. As acting liege of Blackstone, Skye is in a fight for her life after defying her king by refusing to marry a coward.

Fueled by cultural differences and outside factions, a battle of wits quickly develops between Travis and Skye, eventually forcing both to reevaluate their previously held convictions and expectations.
